The most basic machines are called simple machines. Simple machines alter the direction or force of a particular object, making it easier to move and simplifying and reducing the time needed to complete a job. Simple machines are helpful because they reduce effort or extend the ability of people to perform tasks beyond their standard capabilities. In this activity, our elementary students make a bottle, plastic toy, paper cart, and mini vacuum cleaner.
